Restoring Large Databases in phpMyAdmin

Due to various cPanel limitations, restoring databases from bzip2 archives and large databases which take either longer than 300 seconds to restore or otherwise use a large number of resources, is problematic using cPanel's phpMyAdmin.

To counter this, please use a dedicated installation of phpMyAdmin located here:

It is particularly configured to allow maximum features and resource usage, in order to enable users to restore very large databases. Please note that you will need to log in using your database username and database password.

If you still have problems, and cannot restore your database using the above linked installation, please upload your database to your home directory using FTP, and send a forum PM to Starcraftmazter (paying customers may use the support centre) with the following details:

  • Your cPanel username
  • The location of the database backup and file name (on the server)
  • Name of the database into which the backup will be restored

And he will conduct the restoration for you.
